In the United States, transgender individuals have disproportionate rates of new HIV diagnoses. This disparity is largely driven by factors including transphobia, stigma, discrimination, and marginalization of the transgender population within the health care system. Despite decades of HIV and AIDS research, there has been limited data collected from transgender populations, and thus health professionals are limited in developing and tailoring appropriate services. Culturally competent medical care that is free of bias and stigma is essential to decreasing health disparities among transgender patients. In collaboration with the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Center of Excellence for Transgender Health, this webinar will include a review of health disparities faced by transgender patients and will zero in on “five things to know” to ensure your organization is providing affirming, quality and inclusive care to transgender people. The webinar will also provide opportunity for questions and answers from an expert panel. By the end of the webinar participants will be able to:

• Identify health disparities faced by transgender patients
• Identify strategies for providing effective primary care to transgender patients
• Describe ways to create a welcoming environment for transgender patients
• Identify ways in which free CPN capacity building assistance (CBA) support could benefit your HIV prevention programs and/or service delivery model
